What is Microsoft Power Apps?

Microsoft Power Apps is a powerful cloud-based application, available as part of Microsoft 365, that allows users to create apps for the web, mobile, and desktop, as well as being used to customise the forms used natively within SharePoint lists & libraries. It is part of the Microsoft Power Platform, which also includes Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents. Power Apps is designed to help organisations quickly create custom business applications that can be used to streamline processes, automate workflow, and provide insights into data.

Microsoft Power Apps setup

Power Apps is No Code

Power Apps is a no-code development platform, meaning that users don’t need to write any code in order to create their apps. Instead, they can use a drag-and-drop interface to create their apps. This makes it easy for users to create powerful and complex apps without having to learn a programming language; Power Apps utilises Excel-style functions, some of which are a little more complex for the average user, however the “Intellisense” prompts certainly make the process a whole lot easier!

Microsoft Power Apps also has a wide range of features that make it an attractive platform for app development. For example, it allows users to connect to a wide range of data sources, including on-premises and cloud-based databases, SharePoint lists & libraries, Dynamics 365 entities, OneDrive, Google Drive, SQL, Salesforce, plus hundreds more. This makes it easy for users to integrate their apps with existing systems (view the full list of supported Power Apps connectors).

Power Apps also offers a range of pre-built templates and components that users can use to quickly create their apps. This makes it easy for users to create powerful apps that are tailored to their specific needs.

Power Apps Features

Microsoft Power Apps also has a range of features that make it easy to manage and monitor apps. For example, users can use the Power Apps Dashboard to track usage, performance, and other metrics. They can also use the Power Apps Admin Center to manage users and permissions.

Power Apps is available on a pay-as-you-go basis, which makes it easy for users to scale up or down as their needs change.

In summary, Microsoft Power Apps is a powerful and cost-effective cloud-based platform that makes it easy for users to create custom business applications. It offers a wide range of features that make it easy to create powerful apps, connect to data sources, and manage and monitor apps. It is an attractive solution for organisations looking to quickly create custom applications.

It also provides an intuitive drag-and-drop user interface that allows users to quickly create automated workflows without any coding or scripting.

Users can easily create automated workflows to automate tasks such as sending emails, creating lists, and creating reports. It also enables users to quickly and easily create custom applications and workflows, such as creating an automated workflow to monitor a customer’s purchase history.

Power Automate APIs

Microsoft Power Automate also provides powerful APIs and connectors that allow users to quickly and easily integrate their existing applications and services. This enables users to quickly and easily create complex workflows that span multiple applications and services.

Power Automate also provides powerful analytics and reporting capabilities that enable users to monitor and analyse their automated workflows. This allows users to quickly identify and address any issues with their automated processes.

Upskill in Microsoft Teams & Groups

Microsoft Teams logo

Many users had Microsoft Teams & Groups thrust upon them by their organisations when the pandemic kicked in and staff were forced into working from home, many for the first time.

Even 3+ years later, many users are still struggling to get to grips with the rich functionality Microsoft 365 Groups & Teams can provide, and are by no means making the most of these fantastic collaborative products.

Our FREE SharePoint Health-Checks are Back!

FREE SharePoint Health-Checks!
After the success of last year’s round of ‘SharePoint Health-checks’, where we helped countless organisations improve efficiency and user adoption of their SharePoint implementation, we’ve decided to offer another series!

Over the years, we’ve seen many amazing SharePoint implementations, but we’ve also seen our fair share of stinkers!

A poorly implemented SharePoint environment can have a huge negative impact on your organisation’s productivity, and their faith in Microsoft’s fantastic suite of cloud solutions.

As SharePoint & Microsoft 365 evangelists, we love to see organisations making the most of these products, which is why we’re offering FREE SharePoint health-checks!

Each remotely-delivered Teams health-check typically takes around 1 hour, and will allow one of our experts to analyse your existing SharePoint implementation to determine if it’s the right set-up for your organisation.

After the session, we’ll send a free, comprehensive report, which will provide feedback on the following, as well as tips and guidance as to how your implementation can be improved upon:

Site Structures
Document Library Structure
Information Management Best Practices
Effective Use of Lists
Use of Content Types & Metadata/Columns
Permissions Management
Look & Feel/Styling Tips
Automation Enhancements through Power Automate
Interface Improvements through Power Apps
Plus anything else we think will help!

And you can rest assured, that once you receive your free report, there is absolutely no obligation to commit to any training or workshop engagements – we just want to see these wonderful productivity tools used to their full potential!
