About the Presenter…
Russ Norton (Managing Director, 3grow | Microsoft 365 Training) has been delivering IT training, workshops and consultancy on a wide variety of applications since 2003, as well as a variety of soft skills courses. Since 2007, Russ has specialised in Microsoft SharePoint and later, the wider Microsoft 365 suite, developing & delivering courses in SharePoint, Teams, InfoPath, Project Server, Nintex, Power Apps, Power Automate & Power BI, to name a few.
In recent years, Russ has overseen large scale training roll-outs for the likes of Tourism Australia, University of South Australia, and was heavily involved in the ‘Elite End User Engagement’ training and exam on behalf of Microsoft New Zealand, amongst many others.
Russ also presents regular sessions at ‘SharePoint/Microsoft 365 Saturday’ and SharePoint User Group events around Australia, just as he did back in the UK, and has also presented at the European SharePoint Best Practices Conference in London.

What is Microsoft Power Apps?
Microsoft Power Apps is a powerful cloud-based application, available as part of Microsoft 365, that allows users to create apps for the web, mobile, and desktop, as well as being used to customise the forms used natively within SharePoint lists & libraries. It is part of the Microsoft Power Platform, which also includes Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Virtual Agents. Power Apps is designed to help organisations quickly create custom business applications that can be used to streamline processes, automate workflow, and provide insights into data.
Power Apps is No Code
Power Apps is a no-code development platform, meaning that users don’t need to write any code in order to create their apps. Instead, they can use a drag-and-drop interface to create their apps. This makes it easy for users to create powerful and complex apps without having to learn a programming language; Power Apps utilises Excel-style functions, some of which are a little more complex for the average user, however the “Intellisense” prompts certainly make the process a whole lot easier!
Microsoft Power Apps also has a wide range of features that make it an attractive platform for app development. For example, it allows users to connect to a wide range of data sources, including on-premises and cloud-based databases, SharePoint lists & libraries, Dynamics 365 entities, OneDrive, Google Drive, SQL, Salesforce, plus hundreds more. This makes it easy for users to integrate their apps with existing systems (view the full list of supported Power Apps connectors).
Power Apps also offers a range of pre-built templates and components that users can use to quickly create their apps. This makes it easy for users to create powerful apps that are tailored to their specific needs.
Power Apps Features
Microsoft Power Apps also has a range of features that make it easy to manage and monitor apps. For example, users can use the Power Apps Dashboard to track usage, performance, and other metrics. They can also use the Power Apps Admin Center to manage users and permissions.
Power Apps is available on a pay-as-you-go basis, which makes it easy for users to scale up or down as their needs change.

What is Microsoft Power Automate?
Microsoft Power Automate is a powerful workflow automation tool that allows users to quickly and easily create automated workflows across multiple applications and services. It is an easy-to-use cloud-based platform that enables users to create automated workflows without the need for coding or scripting. Power Automate is part of the Microsoft Power Platform, a subset of products which fall under the Microsoft 365 banner, that allow users to quickly build custom applications and workflows.
